I highly recommend a stay at this excellent motel and the owner/staff should be commended for keeping the motel clean, spotless, well stocked with like-new towels, and the grounds perfect.
A unique aspect of this motel is that most rooms have a covered carport next to the room. It's great to keep your car or motorcycle out of the intense summer sun or out of the occasional winter snow!
Going to Van Horn to see family is on our agenda every year, it's always a full house at my grandmas. Last year we went with Taylor Motel and the service is top notch, the rooms are cozy, and it's a great value. We will be staying again in a couple of weeks when we go west. Highly recommended for anyone looking for the great deal and best bang for your buck.
A gem in the high desert! This place is cleaner than most hotels and, since each cottage is separated by a carport (yes, your very own carport), the only noise you hear is an occasional train going by. The bed was super comfy, and I'm pretty picky. I was by myself and didn't feel afraid I travel a lot between the west coast and TX, so I will definitely be staying here again. Oh, I forgot to mention, a fridge and microwave too, all for $35+ tax!
Additionally, I have never seen a motel room that is spotless - I mean really spotless! The carpet was clean, the walls without holes and/or places where there used to be pictures hanging and the desk, chair, the microwave and refrigerator spotless. Yes, the bathroom was in the 1950's decor of pink tile but sometimes old school decor is still 'in vogue'!!
What a wonderful motel! The Taylor Motel is 'old school' in so far that it is not newly constructed however don't let that scare you. The motel is the CLEANEST motel in the town of Van Horn - bar none! Even the landscaping bushes in front of each room where trimmed perfectly, neat, and very very presentable.
They have about 15 rooms, with some backing up to the railroad. We had a room near the road so we got noise from there too. It was clean and the beds were ok. The soap reminded me of the old lava bars, but not so abrasive. We arrived there about 9:00 pm and they did not have the air conditioner on and it had been a hot day, It was about midnight before the room got cool. They do have covered parking. They do have a complimentary energy bar for breakfast.
I travel around and stay in a lot of different hotels. By far one of the better ones Ive stayed in. I would recommend it to anyone. Clean rooms and great service.
